Mission
To oversee and co-ordinate the Amateur Radio Service band planning
for the State of Queensland and to advise the QAC of Queensland in technical matters.
Goals
To co-ordinate the allocation of frequencies of Amateur Service
repeaters, links and beacons in accordance with the current band plan to
minimise interference between other amateur repeaters, links or beacons.
To assist Clubs and Groups in obtaining a licence for the amateur
repeaters, links or beacons from the Australian Communications Authority
as recommended by QTAC.
To co-ordinate changes to the\ band
plan affecting Queensland repeaters, links or beacons.
To foster a credible working relationship with the Australian Communications Authority.
To make written recommendation(s) to the QAC Council in
relation to technical matters and the UHF/SHF Incentive scheme.
Committee
The QTAC committee shall consist of at least two amateurs with
technical qualifications and / or commercial expertise in the radio and
communications fields. Members to have an understanding of modern
technical system requirements and radio communication theories and
practices. Ability to effectively communicate technical matters to both
professional technical people and to amateurs in general. To advise
project builders on general repeater, link or beacon technology, RFI,
propagation, harmonic radiation and other technical matters or to delegate
such advice from other people, groups, clubs or organisations.
Duties
- To process licence applications from Groups and to forward such
applications as are deemed in the best interest of VK4 amateurs to the
A.C.M.A. for issue of a licence together with the QTAC recommendation.

- To report to the QAC Council on a regular basis or more
frequently as circumstances dictate.
- To establish and update a register of Queensland Amateur
repeaters, links and beacons licensed by the Australian Communications & Media Authority.
- To liaise with NTAC on National issues and any changes to the band
plan or introduction or withdrawal of amateur repeaters, links or
beacons.
The Wireless Institute of Australia policy is to encourage open access Amateur repeaters.
